HPPC proceeds with the 40-year lease of Xenia Andros

Aiming to preserve and sustainably develop a landmark property of exceptional architectural and historical importance

The Public Properties Company (HPPC), a subsidiary of the Growthfund, announces the long-term lease of the “Xenia Andros” property, also known as Xenia “Triton” in the Municipality of Andros, for a period of forty (40) years. The project aims for the restoration, renovation, and sustainable utilization of the property, within the framework of permitted urban planning uses.

The utilization of this property is part of HPPC’s broader strategy to restore the “Xenia” hotels as a modern network of destinations with a strong cultural and developmental dimension. Within this context, these historic properties are highlighted through targeted restoration and reuse interventions, reconnecting hospitality with culture and the local economy and society.

The development of Xenia Andros is another example of this approach, combining the preservation of cultural heritage with the creation of new prospects for sustainable tourism development. The relevant lease agreement was signed by the CEO of HPPC, Ms. Iro Hadjigeorgiou, and the Mayor of Andros, Mr. Theodosis Sousoudis.

The property is located at the “Plakoures” site in Chora, Andros, on a seaside land plot within the approved City Plan. It occupies a total plot area of 2,741.81 sq.m., while the existing building complex has a total surface area of approximately 1,755 sq.m., spanning a basement (78 sq.m.), ground floor (639 sq.m.), first floor (666 sq.m.), and second floor (372 sq.m.).

The complex was designed by the prominent Greek architect Aris Konstantinidis and was constructed in 1958, serving as the area’s first hotel complex. It was designated as a protected monument in 2011 due to its exceptional architectural and historical significance.

The restoration and development of the property aim to preserve and highlight its cultural identity, while boosting the tourism and economic growth of Andros, with full respect for the monument’s history and architectural character.
