HPPC manages a huge and diverse portfolio of real estate assets throughout Greece. This portfolio is made up of properties which belonged to all the companies which merged to form HPPC, namely the Hellenic Tourism Properties SA, the Olympic Properties SA, the Hellenic Public Real Estate Corporation and Attica Coastal Front S.A.
HPPC’s Real Estate Register includes:
- Tourist properties and infrastructure such as the former Xenia Hotels, marinas, camp sites, golf courses, ski resorts, museums, caves, tourist kiosks, thermal springs, and also a significant number of areas for prospective tourist development
- Olympic Properties
- A large number of properties that belong to the private property of the Greek State.
These properties are exceptionally varied in terms of characteristics, category, geographical distribution and type of development suitable for each category, and they range from simple urban and agricultural leases to developing alternative energy infrastructure in geothermal fields.
Under Law 4389/2016, HPPC administers and manages the public utilities, archaeological sites and areas which are safeguarded environmentally, etc., whereas it owns the rest of its portfolio outright.
Maturity and Consolidation
Consolidating and maturing its property portfolio is a central priority for HPPC. The company has already upgraded its geo-information systems, which now allow for up-to-date registration, standardisation and analysis methods based on the National Land Registry. The aim of this is to collate -for the very first time- a complete and realistic picture of all public real estate in the country. As part of the same strategy, the company has introduced the business intelligence system BI (TABLEAU), which is also connected to the geo-information systems. Thanks to this system, it is now possible to immediately classify, see image of and prioritise properties. This minimizes time and maximizes efficiency in the process towards maturing and utilising the real estate assets of the portfolio.
