The Achilleion Museum brings its successful programme of cultural events for 2021 to an end with a concert by the “Mantzaros” Philharmonic Society with works from great composers

01/10/2021 | Our News, Press Releases

The Achilleion Museum has held more than 20 cultural events this year and is now bidding farewell to its audiences for this summer with a major concert.

On Saturday, October 2, at 20.30, the “Mantzaros” Philharmonic Society will perform works by great Greek and Philhellene composers (P. Karrer, Sp. Samaras. N. C. Mantzaros, F. Herold, M. Theodorakis), to mark the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the Greek Revolution, a musical evening full of Greece.

The concert will take place inside the Palace and the public will be able to watch it live streamed on the Achilleion Museum social networking platforms (fb, Instagram). It will also be broadcast live on the Corfu Channel television station. The event is an initiative from HPPC and the Achilleion Palace and is under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

In a year when the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic left their mark, the Public Properties Company and the Achilleion Museum hosted more than 20 cultural events on the Museum premises. These included concerts, film screenings, lectures and exhibitions that highlighted the Palace as an emblematic centre for art and culture, as well as a beautiful and valuable museum.

Given that culture and art are a common language worldwide, the Achilleion Museum has worked with the Ministry of Culture and Sports and other agencies at local, national and international levels, such as the Ionian Islands Region, the Municipality of Central Corfu and the Diapontia Islands, Corfu Association for Sports, Culture and the Environment and the Austrian Embassy in Greece, to present a series of internationally renowned artists and speakers. This has given visitors to the Achilleion Palace the opportunity to enjoy unique events throughout the summer season in the atmospheric environment of the Palace Gardens, under the artistic supervision of Roza Poulimenou.

The Public Properties Company and the Achilleion Museum would like to extend their warmest thanks to all those who contributed to this effort and thus furthered the cultural development of this beautiful Ionian island, and to all those who honoured the events with their presence.

We promise to bring you more beautiful moments with new cultural events next year, and so we would love to renew our acquaintance during the summer of 2022, in the wonderful gardens of the Achilleion Palace, Corfu.

This summer the Achilleion Museum hosted the following cultural events:
