The Hellenic Public Properties Company (HPPC), a subsidiary of the Hellenic Growth Fund, has signed the lease agreement for the iconic “Asani” property in Corfu with the company “KONTOS CONCRETE A.T.E.”, paving the way for the restoration and redevelopment of a property with significant architectural and cultural value.
The lease duration is 30 years, with an option to extend for an additional 10 years, ensuring the long-term growth prospects of the asset. The lessee undertakes the commitment to implement a substantial investment program for the complete restoration and renovation of the building.
The “Asani” is a six-story, historic building with a total surface area of 867.40 sq.m., located in the central Town Hall Square (Plateia Dimarcheiou), in the heart of the Old Town of Corfu. The property lies within the unified archaeological site of Palaiopolis and the Old Town of Corfu, which is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The development of the historic “Asani” building aligns with HPPC’s broader strategic planning to activate properties of distinct cultural value and reintegrate them into the economic and social life of their local communities.
As HPPC’s CEO, Ms. Iro Hadjigeorgiou, stated: “With the signing of this contract, the ‘Asani’ enters a new era aimed at the restoration, upgrade, and reopening of an iconic building in the historic center of Corfu. It is our priority to utilize landmark properties that require major interventions, with the goal of preserving and highlighting the cultural heritage and unique architectural character of every region.”
