The Hellenic Public Properties Company (HPPC), a subsidiary of the Growthfund, has successfully completed the open electronic tender process (e-auction) for the long-term lease of the historic “Xenia Ouranoupolis” hotel, for a period of thirty (30) years, paving the way for its upgrade into a luxury hospitality unit in Northern Greece.

The tender attracted strong investor interest, with the participation of seven (7) investment schemes—six Greek and one international company—while the starting price was set at €240,000 annually. The company “Domes Attica Single Member S.A.” was declared the preferred bidder, having submitted the highest offer of €826,875 per year.

“Xenia Ouranoupolis”, built in 1959 and designed by the prominent architect Periklis Sakellarios, stands as a landmark of modern Greek architecture and a living monument of the pioneering Xenia hotel network, which redefined Greek hospitality in the mid-20th century. Strategically located at the gateway to Mount Athos, near the town of Ouranoupolis, the property extends over a 27,817 sq.m. plot, featuring 330 meters of seafront, a private beach, swimming pool, 82 rooms and 16 bungalows, constituting a unique destination of seaside luxury and cultural value.

With the completion of the tender process, the path is now open for the full redevelopment and reopening of Xenia Ouranoupolis as a modern hotel unit, offering high-quality services and contributing to the tourism and economic development of the wider region of Halkidiki and Northern Greece.

HPPC consistently invests in the promotion and development of its real estate portfolio, while placing society and local communities at the core of its strategy. Through the development of emblematic assets such as Xenia Ouranoupolis, the Company actively contributes to strengthening quality tourism, attracting investment and enhancing dynamic entrepreneurship in Greece.
