Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, HPPC and the Municipality of Drama on improvement work to upgrade the former Andrikakis Camp to an International Audiovisual Centre

A Memorandum of Cooperation on improvement work to upgrade HPPC’s property at the former “Andrikakis Camp” in Drama to an international audiovisual centre was signed a few days ago at HPPC’s offices by the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports who is responsible for Contemporary Culture, Nikolaos Giatromanolakis, HPPC CEO, Stefanos D. Vlastos and the Mayor of Drama, Christodoulos Mamsakos.

The aim of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, HPPC and the Municipality of Drama is to create a “Creative Hub for the Audiovisual Arts” in Drama. This will be implemented with funding from the Ministry of Education and Culture and will include the facilities of the famous Drama International Short Film Festival, an annex to the State School of Audiovisual Media which is currently being set up, and also businesses which are active in the audiovisual sector.

Immediately after the Memorandum of Cooperation was signed, the CEO of HPPC, Stefanos D. Vlastos, stated:

“Once again we are proving that making good use of public real estate is a collective matter, by putting another Greek State property at the disposal of the Central Administration and of local communities. The aim is for the property to be used to create an important International Cultural Centre, while also serving the national strategy which aims to develop the audiovisual sector and to highlight Greece internationally.

I would like to warmly thank the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports, Nikolaos Giatromanolakis, and the Mayor of Drama, Christodoulos Mamsakos, for their constructive contribution to this important development. Through this three-way cooperation between HPPC, the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Drama ,and with valuable support given by the resources offered to our country by the Recovery Fund, we are launching an important project that will act as a driver for development in Drama and the wider region”.

The implementing body for the project is the Municipality of Drama, and the Ministry of Culture has assumed responsibility for coordinating the financing of the action as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

HPPC’s property is within plot AK 3967 and has an area of 149,776 sq.m. HPPC will cede the property to the Municipality of Drama for twenty years for a fee, with the possibility of extending the period for an additional ten years. For its part, the Municipality of Drama will carry out a series of construction works and building upgrades and will alter and modernize the premises.
