View from 2,500 meters and unique trips to nearby areas

Known to ski lovers by its second name, Kaimaktsalan, in the Voras mountain range sits the third highest mountain in Greece with an altitude of 2,524 meters. From this privileged location, the ski center located at the top rewards its visitors with an excellent view of the Thermaic Gulf and the top of Mount Olympus, when weather conditions allow for it.

As the mountain is located on the border of the prefecture of Pella, just 35 km from Edessa, the Voras-Kaimaktsalan Ski Centre is an ideal destination to combine skiing with other activities for travelers and locals. The surrounding area is suitable for short excursions, with attractions such as the enchanting village of Agios Athanasios, built in the 16th century at the foothill of the mountain at an altitude of 1,200 meters, the Pozar baths, but also facilities for horseback riding, archery, climbing, mountain biking, rafting and kayaking.

The name Kaimaktsalan means “earth as soft as cream” and indeed, ski fans consider it to be well-suited to skiing fresh powder. At the same time, because the slopes are long and wide, and moderately difficult, they are an ideal location to improve technique.

It has 6 sliding and aerial lifts and 10 slopes, as well as a chalet with excellent views for relaxing between descents, a doctor’s office, a playland, and of course, ski schools and a building for rental equipment. The lowest point of the ski center, at the main shelter, the parking lot and ski schools are located, at 2,050 meters.
