A rare therapeutic combination in one of the most beneficial thermal springs in the world

Out of the most therapeutic thermal springs in the world, Ypati Thermal Spring stands out because of the special physicochemical composition of the water, which is rich in carbonic acid and hydrogen sulfide, creating a rare therapeutic combination.

The natural scenery offered by the plain of Fthiotida and the beneficial properties of the spring, have made Ypati among the most popular spa destinations for travelers from Greece and abroad. Guests enjoy the area’s mild and dry climate and its water temperature of 33.2 degrees, close to the temperature of the natural body, which leads to a pleasant bath therapy experience.

The natural landscape, at the foothill of Mount Oeta, makes the visit to Ypati the perfect opportunity for a trip to the neighboring National Park of Oeta or the beautiful villages in the area.
Ypati Thermal Spring is located about 18 kilometers west of Lamia on the road to Karpenisi. It occupies a total area of about 900,000 square meters. At the spring there is a large hydrotherapy center, covering more than 2,600 meters, which includes 80 baths of various categories, including baths for patients with severe skin diseases, many lounge areas, a 187 square meter outdoor swimming pool that serves 16,000 people a year and has a canteen-bar, and a physiotherapy clinic. Bathers also have at their disposal sports facilities stretching over 32,000 square meters (2 tennis courts, 2 volleyball courts, 1 basketball court and 1 football pitch).

The water from the thermal spring reached the surface after an earthquake caused a rupture in 427 BC. It is characterized and identified as being hypothermic with minerals and moderately containing sulfide. It contains large amounts of carbonate, chlorinated sodium, calcium, potassium, strontium, boron, bromide, lithium and hypertonic thermal water.
