In the green and water-rich landscape of historic Serres that features rich vegetation is the Nigrita Thermal Spa, known for its mineral water. The spring’s healing properties have long been known since Roman times, during which the area flourished and public Roman baths have been maintained in the area.
The Thermal Spring is located 4 km from the village of Nigrita, just 22 km from the city of Serres and 70 km from Thessaloniki. In the unit, which has an area of 12,225 square meters, there is a hotel, a hydrotherapy center with 14 renovated baths and a medical office.
The water at Nigrita is particularly hot, at 45.6 ºC, while it is characterized and identified as being moderately carbonated, with moderate sulfide, hyperthermic, hypotonic, oxycarbonate, calcareous, magnesium, quartz, potassium and fluoride.
